Gaming Innovation Group (GiG) has inked a pact with an anonymous Swiss land-based and digital casino operator.

GiG has entered into an agreement with a Swiss casino.
The terms of the arrangement stipulate that GiG will furnish the operator with its Player Account Management platform (PAM) for an initial five-year period, with the option to extend.

The gaming provider stated that the final agreement is anticipated to be signed in the initial quarter of 2023, with a planned launch in the first quarter of 2024.

“Collaborating with a respected retail partner in the Swiss market has been an objective for us, and this partnership will empower us to exhibit our leading market technology in another highly regulated but expanding market,” remarked Richard Brown, CEO of GiG.

The deal will witness GiG entering the nation’s gambling market. Owing to the country’s chosen “fenced” regulatory model, only existing operators of Swiss land-based casinos are eligible for licenses.

The Swiss Market
In 2018, Swiss voters endorsed the country’s gambling legislation, which established the framework for a regulated Swiss market. Since the market’s commencement on January 1, 2019, foreign operators have been prohibited, and the provision of online casino games has been confined to domestic land-based casino enterprises.

At present, the Swiss Federal Gaming Board has granted licenses to 11 online casinos.

Based on H2 Gaming’s figures, Switzerland’s overall gaming income is projected to hit €400 million (£354 million/$430 million) by 2024.

GiG has revealed a board reorganization following the departure of Michael Ahern. Ahern joined the board on April 1, 2022, after the company became a stakeholder in GiG related to the acquisition of Sportnco Gaming SAS. Ahern was the chief executive of SkyCity Entertainment Group. SkyCity continues to be a member of GiG’s nomination committee and will take part in the board composition suggestions presented at the annual shareholder meeting in May. GiG stated: “Ahern has closely observed GiG’s progress during this period and is satisfied with GiG’s operations and the company’s position in the online gaming sector.” The provider added: “As CEO of SkyCity, Ahern will now concentrate on his commitment to SkyCity in New Zealand and Australia.” “The board expresses gratitude to Michael for his contribution to the company.”
