African Online Gaming Report – August 2018
Gambling Capital and iGaming Business are delighted to present you with the most recent African Online Gaming Report, part of our upcoming Africa focus.

It monitors the progress of the African Online Gaming industry since 2003 and anticipates that by 2023, African Online Gaming total revenue is projected to increase by 36% from €385.4 million in 2018 to €523.9 million in 2023.

The data also tracks the proportion of Online Gaming in the total African gambling total revenue and predicts that this proportion will rise from 10.3% to 12.4% during the period.

Despite the expectation that the number of regulated markets in the area will expand over the next five years, the data in H2 shows that the percentage of Online Gaming total revenue in these markets is fluctuating, highlighting the less developed regulatory environment in the area compared to Europe.

In terms of products, wagering remains the most popular on the continent, expected to account for 40% of the market share this year.

However, by the end of this year, casinos are expected to account for 25% of the total revenue, surpassing national lotteries at 24%.

Our previous African Report released in January recorded national lotteries as the second most popular vertical, accounting for 33% of the total revenue in the region.

In those days, the gaming sector lagged significantly, representing a mere 21%.
