Camelot, the organization poised to take over as administrator of the UK National Lottery, is strongly supporting the Friendship Race, a renowned cycling competition for young athletes held every year in the Czech Republic.

This is not simply another cycling competition. Established in 1948 as a representation of harmony and reconciliation on a continent still recovering from World War II, the Friendship Race has evolved into a proving ground for cycling’s rising talents. Numerous past champions, such as five-time Tour de France victor Eddy Merckx, went on to achieve legendary status in the sport.

The race traverses through the scenic JesenĂky Mountains, presenting a challenging trial for the young cyclists. This year, more than 20 national squads will be competing for triumph, all aspiring to emulate their idols.

Camelot’s backing extends beyond mere funding. They are dedicated to elevating the visibility of this historic race, ensuring it continues to motivate and enthrall spectators for years to come. As Petr Novak, a high-ranking official at Camelot, stated, they are eagerly looking forward to an exciting competition and the opportunity to witness the rise of cycling’s next cohort of stars.

The demanding special stages within the Khrebet Cherskogo range present a formidable challenge, even for the most experienced rally competitors. This is far from a leisurely drive; these are trials comparable to those found in the Pyrenees, or perhaps even the Alps!
