Belgiums gaming authority has publicized its cost schedule for licenses in 2024. The fees fluctuate based on the category of permit a business possesses.

The highest-priced permits, classified as A+ and B+, will require a payment of €22,085. Holders of these licenses operate brick-and-mortar casinos and amusement arcades with gaming machines, respectively. Internet-based casinos and wagering firms fall under the F1+ and G1 license categories and will face charges comparable to those of A+ and B+ licenses. The most budget-friendly permit, G2, is priced at €123 and caters to businesses offering media-based games.

This revised pricing structure has received endorsement from the Belgian Council of Ministers and is anticipated to be implemented soon.

The Belgian Gambling Commission (GC) closely monitors the nation’s gaming activities. They are not merely a licensing body; they actively analyze patterns and publish studies on gambler conduct. A September 2023 study examined young adults between 18 and 30 years old. The findings revealed that a majority, approximately 62%, engage in gambling infrequently – monthly or less. Nevertheless, a concerning 13% confessed to daily gambling habits.

Even more alarming is that over a third of the respondents couldn’t distinguish between a legitimate and an illicit gambling website.

On a separate note, Pragmatic Play, a prominent player in the online casino realm, recently joined forces with Gaming1, the enterprise behind the Circus brand. This collaboration means Pragmatic Play’s live casino offerings will soon be accessible in Belgium via Circus. Furthermore, Dutch players will also have the opportunity to enjoy these games on Circus’ Netherlands platform.
