A gaming corporation, Allwyn, will acquire Camelot UK, the present administrator of the UK National Lottery. Camelot has overseen the lottery under its third permit, slated to conclude in early 2024. This purchase is noteworthy because Allwyn is also poised to take over as the UK National Lottery’s manager commencing in February 2024, having secured the fourth license from the Gambling Commission.

Both entities conveyed enthusiasm for the agreement, highlighting their mutual dedication to the National Lottery’s prosperity and the charitable endeavors it bolsters. Finalization of the transaction is anticipated in early 2023, contingent upon regulatory authorizations, notably from the Gambling Commission.

Allwyn states that acquiring Camelot will significantly accelerate their objective of managing the UK’s National Lottery. They intend to collaborate closely with Camelot and the Gambling Commission to ensure a seamless handover of the lottery’s operations.

Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan, a major stakeholder in the National Lottery, expressed their pride in backing the lottery for the preceding 12 years. They emphasized that under Camelot’s stewardship, the lottery generated a substantial sum exceeding £20 billion (equivalent to $23.7 billion) for charitable endeavors. This funding has benefited numerous organizations throughout the UK.

They are convinced that this transaction represents the optimal approach to guarantee the lottery’s uninterrupted operation during the transition, and they extend their best wishes to Allwyn. Furthermore, they expressed gratitude to the entire Camelot team for their dedication over the years, particularly for achieving a record-breaking charitable contribution in the previous year.
