Iconic Australian rules football player Wayne Carey has publicly condemned Crown Resorts after being removed from the company’s Perth gaming establishment for possessing a white substance.

Last week, Carey reportedly dropped a satchel containing the substance, which he insists was not an illicit drug.

The 51-year-old retired sportsman clarified that the powder was actually prescribed anti-inflammatory medicine, and that he presented it to security personnel when the pouch slipped from his pocket.

“I want to be unambiguous, there was no misconduct on my behalf. I’m incredibly let down by the entire situation,” Carey declared.
“Crown had ample chance to contact the authorities, on two occasions, and they should have. If it were an unlawful material, they would have immediately used the phone.”

Crown Resorts’ recently appointed CEO, CiarĂ¡n Carruthers, disputed Carey’s account, informing local news outlets that the former footballer’s narrative did not align with what Crown employees had documented.

“Our personnel acted in line with our established procedures, which entail reporting and handling any questionable conduct,” Carruthers stated. “In this instance, our staff requested the guest to depart.”
“My understanding is that they were unaware it was Wayne Carey initially. He was merely a customer who was trading some gambling chips.”
“When the bag containing the powder and some currency tumbled out, staff observed it and alerted their gaming supervisor.”

He abandoned his belongings, and the subsequent events remain unknown to me. Kerry’s legal team is investigating the possibility of unjust treatment towards their client, while yesterday, local law enforcement head, Blanche, stated that the gaming establishment should have alerted authorities upon the occurrence of the event.
